I have a 2000 dodge dakota 3.9L it is over heating. Also there is no heat coming from the heater. I have replaced the thermastat and radiator cap thinking this was the problem but that didnt fix it. Also i am leaking antifreeze from underneath the engine. I can not tell if it is coming from the water pump or a freeze plug but i am loosing coolant.

Hi:
If you're not getting heat, either the heater core is plugged, you have a blocked heater hose (supply), the radiator is so plugged there is basically no circlulation, or you are very low on coolant. As far as the leak, you're right it could be a water pump or a freeze plug. However, because of the year, my money is on the pump. Check the seap hole onder the pump for evidence of a leak. That is where they leak from if the bearing / seal is going bad.

Let me know if this helps, and I would like to know what you find.

Joe
