I just had my heater core replaced by a friend who is a backyard mechanic. He has always done good work but today when i got my truck I turned on the heat, and i turned the knob towards the foot heater and it blew only out from the defrost and there was hardly any air flowing from the foot heater. Do you know what could cause this?

Yes, maybe your mechanic forgot a single vacuum line, it is a common problem The unit needs vacuum to operate the doors that direct the flow of air. Its located near the brakes master cylinder. Under the hood. A vacuum line could be pinched.
