Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Dodge Dakota V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I need to know if it is neccessary to replace a pulley when installing a new serpentine belt without a/c on the 5.9 engine .What size belt is required? The 88.5in. belt sized from parts dealer will not fit.

It isn't necessay to replace any of the puleys. As far as the belt, are you sure the parts store isn't giving you the wrong one?

The parts store has the same recommended size of 88.5 in. for unit without a/c. I found other people on the web who said to have the store exchange for a belt 3 inches longer. Other people have had the same issue and not much help from suppliers. How does the mfg. make this mistake?
