Have a Dakota 3.9 liter and I noticed I lost power steering then smelled coolant but I wasn't running hot. Pulled over and my sperpentine belt was off and my water and coolant all over the ground. I replaced the belt twice only to have it shoot off again. Any ideas? Fairly new tensioner and belt

with engine off try pressing on belt tentioner you should have to use force to do so if it is easy you might think about replacing it. If checks out ok try turning other pulleys to see if move freely. hope that helps

Yeah. I found that the water pump pulley won't spin without major force and lots of grinding.
I guess i should replace the pump?
