1999 Dodge Dakota speed is wrong

I just got the truck back from a Chrysler dealer for repairs. One repair was the speedometer is off by 7 miles, reason is their are lager tires on it, the garage said they can't fix it. ( bull ) I had a ford and they changed a gear in the tranny. Can I do the same and where can I get the gear.Thanks RonC

sensor has no gears on it
so they cann't change the gear

I went back to the garage yesterday and pressed the issue. It took a whole few minutes to fix. Whats the problem with some of these garages?
