1999 Dodge Dakota roll away

When shifted into park the trans will not lock and the truck will roll away if the parking break is not applied. What's the cause and fix for this and aprox. cost?

Hi:

I would recommend that you check the linkage going to the trans. Something is out of adjustment or damaged not allowing the trans to shift fully into park.
