1998 Dodge Dakota Locate Computer

I have a 98 Dodge Dakota, several times as I am driving the acceleration of the truck decreases and even shuts off. Occasionally it backfires aswell. They told me to check the computer, and I need to locate the computer in order to remove it and send it to a Mechanic.
