1998 Dodge Dakota V6 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 101500 miles
1998 dakota sport. Why does the gear not set correctly when placed in (D) drive gear. For years now gear sit in between slots. What can be done to fix this problem

If you remove the trim panel directly below the steering column, there should be a thin wire and a clip holding it to the column. This is the indicator wire, try adjusting it properly, if it wont stay in the right spot, the indicator in the dash may be in need of replacement
