I have a '98 Dakota with a 3.9 V-6 engine. It will run good sometimes and then all of a sudden it might die, it might just go to missing. It will usually start back up in just a short time. It will sometimes set a PO351 code and sometimes will have a random misfire on all cylinders. We have replaced the crank sensor, cam sensor, plugs, coil and coil wire. I have talked to a tech that works for chrysler and he tells me he has a '97 Jeep doing the same thing and has been unable to fix this problem.
If you can be of any help, I would certainly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

Hi:
I looked up the code and I'm finding a potential ignition coil problem #1 primary circuit problem. First, disconnect the coil and check the connections for corrosion or damage.

IF there is no problem there, you need a scan tool. With the ignition switch on, atuate coil number 1. With an external volt meter, check the coil connector, auto shut down (ASD) relay output circuit (Dark green/orange wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open ASD relay output circuit.

If you get to this point without satisfaction, let me know and we'll continue.

Let me know if this helps, or if you have any other questions.
Joe
