We just got this truck for our landscaping work, I tuned it up fully. The transmission fluid looks quite pink but it looks like the filter has never been replaced. When it shift gears, it has a delay, someone suggest us to replace the filter. After talking to a shop (Precision Tuneup) they advice us that since the truck has 144000 miles and the filter has never been replaced, that changing it could make the transmission go out. My question to you is what should we do? If we leave the old filter the transmission will go and if we replace it it will go too? I need an expert advice. Thank you very much.

Sometimes they go out when the filter is replaced, that is because it is so used to running with the sludge and the tight clearance in the tranny, and when its changed and it has that excessive play it causes them to go out sometimes.

If you look at a dodge service manual they say change the fluid but never the filter. Try some lucas transmission fix. It stops slipping.
