1996 Dodge Dakota Oil Leak

I have a 96 dodge dakota sport. the motor in it is an OEM motor but it is a crate motor. i am unsure of the mileage on the motor. I have an oil leak that appears to be coming from between where motor and transmission mount together. it IS a straight shift. it is leaking engine oil and i think it is the rear seal on the motor. can anyone tell me what they think the problem is and if it is the rear seal, what would cause this to go bad?

If oil leaking from rear and from in-between the tranny and engine
Most common and likely to be the rear main seal leaking
