Ok so I took apart the trans to do a rebuild. Well I cant for the life of me figure out how to take the forward drum off. Or the other side of the shaft with the shell and rear planet. I have a haynes, and the atsg trans tech online manual

if you click on certain areas it will show up close how it s put together. But. On the page click the shell and you'll see part # 882. Which I removed. But #604 WILL NOT COME OFF. The lip on it will not allow it. So?

I'm not a tranny expert, but could the lip you're referring to be burrs than should be removed? The snap ring would imply part #604 needs to be retained, and will not be without it.

Thanks. After a lot of searching and calling in a few favors. What my problem was. Was the forward clutches in the A500 /42RE has a bad habit of welding the steels and frictions to the shaft when they are worn out and get too hot. My trans guy helped me with it after taking it to show him. He said " some times you just got to get a lil ruff with it ". And sure enough POP. Off it came. And now im almost done reassymbaling it :] thanks again for trying to help
