1995 Dodge Dakota How do I replace the fuel pump?

I already have the tank down and the pump on order. Now I see you recomend using only OEM. Checker is getting the part today and they are very close to me, (I have to ride my bike there). How risky is it to use non-OEM and can you give me some tips on installation?
