I noticed that my driver side door was not closing properly. Son decided to examiame the door and hinges. The area has pulled away from the door, so now it will have to have new metal inserted so that hinges can be attached to frame, hinge attachment on door is in good shape. Where can we obtain if possible an already molded piece to weld into the door frame to attach new hinges.

Chances are it is time to replace the cab if you want to keep it. Other than that, chances are you won't find anyone to repair something like that. I have owned (and still do) dakotas for years. If that is that bad, check the frame. They rust in several different places in the box area.
