Just go out and drive it.

After the battery went dead or was disconnected, the memory was lost in the engine computer. Until you relearn minimum throttle, the computer doesn't know when it has to be in charge of idle speed. To relearn minimum throttle, drive at highway speed, then coast for at least seven seconds without touching the brake or gas pedals. Higher than normal manifold vacuum for seven seconds is the signal for the computer to take a reading from the throttle position sensor and put it into memory. From then on, when it sees the same voltage, it knows you don't have your foot on the gas pedal.

Be thankful you don't have a Volkswagen. When this happens to those cars, you get to have the car towed to the dealership to have their procedure done before it will come out of Park or increase rpm above idle speed. A brilliant money-maker.

Does it stay running if you hold the gas pedal down a little?
