1994 Dodge Dakota V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a231 tranfer case 272 ratio and would like to use a 249 tranfer case out of a 94 V-8 cherokee with a 272 gear ratio is it possible?

Hi:
If the transfer cases are both the same in every way (manufacturer, size, design) and it fits, it should be ok. However, I would closely inspect and compare both to ensure they are the same.
