1994 Dodge Dakota oil pressure

My oil pressure guage will drop to low, and my truck will die, then I started losing performance and enginge chugged a bit then died, and as it sat broke down some antifreeze spilt on the ground

Maybe a problem with the oil pump? The engine may need an overhaul? I'd use an analog gage inplace of the oil pressure sending unit, just to double check. My info says 6psi at idle, 30--80 psi @3000 rpms, warm engine.
