1994 Dodge Dakota engine light on/ fast idle

Just changed the thermostate on my truck. Now when I start it engine light comes on and the truck idle is to fast. Ibles up and down. Tried to pull into garage dies on me what is the problem

Did you have to unplug the coolant temp sensor? Make sure it's plugged back in.
