Hey i need help. i have a 1993 dodge dakota 4x4. it makes a weird almost gringing/whir noise. It only does it when i let off the gas. It does not do it in neutral, while shifting, or while accelerating as far as i know. here is a video of it on you tube. if the video link does not work please go to youtube and type in olrajesse and i only have one video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gt7gWCgnFGI

The video helps, but I can't be 100% sure. I need you to check something. First is there any play in the rear pinion bearing where it goes into the differential? Also, another problem with these is the output bearing on the rear of the transfercase. There is a steel clip that holds the bearing inplace. I have seen several that the retainer broke allowing the bearing to move and make this sound. Check that for play too and let me know what you find.
