Engine Performance problem
1993 Dodge Colt

When itis temperatures over 80 degres F my airconditioner runs poorly only when car is idling. WHile running all is well, when idling engine, bucks and almost stalls. IS this an adjustment or relay, or switch? What should I troubleshoot.

Hi CharlesBowring,

The engine almost stalling is most probably due to a fault with the idling system. When the engine idles too low, the AC compressor would not work ad this would result in poor cooling efficiency.

You would need to check the idling system and most common fault would be dirty throttle body and Idle Air Control valve. Get the throttle body and IAC cleaned and retest. The IAC is prone to be faulty for this model.
