1993 Dodge Colt 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

i would like to know if i replace the distributor and there is a problem with the ecu unit will it have an effect on a new distributor. i have connected the negative terminal of a 1.5v dry cell to terminal 7 of the power transistor then checked whether their is continuity between terminals 7 and 2 when terminal 8 and the positive terminal of the dry cell are connected and disconected. the manual i have says that if there is no continuity then to replace the distributor. there is no continuity

Be sure the rotor is turning as you crank the engine. You seem to have the matter well in hand. I hope the timing belt is aligned properly. OK? thanks
