1992 Dodge Colt Will not rev up

I have a 92 Dodge Colt, after starting it will not rev up or accelerate. After a while running it kind of does slowly. Gradually of pinning the gas pedal gets the same reaction. I did notice a loss of power before gradually before this point. What should I look at?

Has the check engine light come on? Also, have you checked to make sure there are no restrictions in the exhaust or catylatic converter? Finally, when was the last tune up and have you checked engine compression?
