Engine Performance problem
1980 Dodge Colt 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

my engine stalls going up hills, but restarts ok. runs mostly fine when level or downhill, stalls when level on rare occasions. had carb rebuilt, and new fuel filter, but problem didn't completely go away. looked at it myself and noticed igniton coil grounding out, another spark from ignition wire near distrib cap, and a bad spark plug wire. replaced the wires and distrib cap and all seemed quite well for a couple of months. had exhaust system repaired (had leak around manifold) and now car is stalling on hills again, and once on level ground. runs fine when it runs, starts again after stalling. next line of attack will be new ignition coil, check vacuum system, and new fuel pump. i know just enough to be dangerous so if anybody has any thoughts i would appreciate it.

I would start by checkinf fuel pump pressure and volume. It sounds like it is running out of gas under a load.

Let me know what you find.
