1972 Dodge Charger Battery discharges while car is running

166,000 MILES • V8 • 2WD • AUTOMATIC

The battery takes a jump, but it discharges when the engine is running and the lights are used. I think it's the alternator, or should I be checking the voltage regulator too? I'm new to car repair, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
