Check Engine Light came on. Code was diagnosed at AutoZone Parts Store as being evaporative loss alarm and advised that gas tank lid liikely cause. I replaced lid with a locking one and removed the battery cable for about ten minutes to cancel the check engine light alarm. Check Engine light stayed unlit for a few days and then came back on. Is removing the battery cable the best way to cancel the Check Engine Light alarm or is there perhaps another evaporative loss other than the gas tank lid that is triggering the Check Engine Light alarm? I cannot detect any change in engine performance nor change in economy since the check engine light came on.
