do i have to remove the timiming chain and cover to remove the front (radiator side) cylinder head 1997 dodoge caravan 3.3 v6

yes you do. and it's a belt not a chain. be cautions the manifold bolts love to brake. mark the belt and pulleys so you can reinstall it all.
