Alternator vs Battery

2001 Caravan Sport 3.3L V6, 80,000 miles

When I try to start my car, It halfway turns over and then just clicks. Does this mean I need an alternator or can I get by with a battery? It will start with a jump and will continue to start only a couple of times after getting a jump.

How old is the battery? Could be both the alternator and battery get it load tested and comeback when it checks out we'll deal with starting system and a short within the electrical system
