Clunking noise

Have you checked the sway bar links?

I haven't yet, do you think it could be the swaybar bushings?

When I turn left or right the front right end of my minivan makes a horrible clunking, grinding noise and I can "feel" the clunking/popping under my feet. I believe both side are making this sound but it's REALLY bad from the right side. When I go over speed bumps, releasing brakes before, the sounds happen as we'll but almost louder and I swear my whole engine in going to fall out! This noise only happens when I'm turning or going over speed bumps and just keeps getting worse! I'm afraid I'm gonna have to get a new car. My ex things it's broken CV joints which is ridiculously expensive, especially if it's both right AND left! Somebody please help me!

only thing to do here is take to a mechanic an dsee if it is a axle and or a suspension problem. Even if it 's $1000 to fix it it's not that old of vehicle and cheaper than a new one. You don't have to go to a dealer to get these repairs. any repair shop can fix this.

Everytime I turn (right) into my driveway, I will get a clunk that seems to be coming from the rear-end, passenger side. I do not get this clunk when driving normally, just when turning (right) into my driveway. My driveway is a little elevated. Any idea what this could be related to? Thanks.

get those potholes fixed in driveway and no more right turns just left :) ... I havent got to play around with to many knew cars so ill just have to wing it :?
you might want to check ur sway arm(if you got one in back?) and see if the link between the sway arm and body are in good order... bad shocks or strut might also cause that... but for right now since it is 2005 id put that Chysler warranty to work for u.. well good luck and let us k now.. thnks jess s.

Sway bar links and bar bushings is a very common its not a safety issue where you have to jump and do it right away but need to be done soon and when you can

I replaced the struts on my grand caravan about a week ago. There is still a clunking noise in the front end. At first I thought it could have been the brake calipers but it still makes the noise with brakes applied. Was wondering what else it could be, stabilizer bar ends?

does it do it when hitting the bumps only? does it clunk when applieing brakes once then go away or constant clunking?

This clunking noise happens when hitting "smaller" bumps, and does still occur when brakes are applied. I did replace the sway bar linkage. It is better but there is still something there..

check your bushings on the strut mountings. also check ball joints and tie rods. have someone steer vehicles wheel fast and short turns with you under it, check and feel for looseness.

Was advised to change aldernator for a clunking noise in that area after mechanic put a screwdriver to it. That did not get rid of the noise. It is a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan. Now what do I check?

I forgot to mention it clunks or knocks or whatever when idling.

It has 170,000 miles.

Hey, I would like to thank you in advance for any help. My girlfriend has an 01 grand caravan awd that has been making a loud clunk from the left front (driver side) wheel area. At least I believe its from that side. Weve mainly noticed it when hitting bumps, divets, and potholes in the road. Weve also been noticing her alignment has been very out of whack lately. Her right front tire is almost completely worn through on the outer shoulder while the rest of the tire still has meat on it. I would really like to fix this myself as we dont have money to bring it to a shop and im mechanically inclined enough to fix it myself. So if I can please just have some advice as to what to look for when I get under the van to figure out what needs to be replaced id really appreciate it! Thank.you very much. I would say you should check the lower ball joint and upper strut mount / turn plate. Either could be making the noise and if bad enough could cause tire wear too. So lift the vehicle and use a pry bar or something like it and see if you get lots of up and down movement from either the ball joint or strut mount, let me know what you find ok.

Alright ill be sure to keep you updated. Ill probably look at it over the weekend. Some other people told me to look at the hub bearing which didnt make much sense to me and I was also told to check the cv joint and sway bar bushings, does that make sense to you?

The cv joint would make clicking noises when cornering and you didn't have that problem listed. As for the sway bar links sure worth checking out could cause noises when hitting bumps. Let me know what you find and we will go from there.

high pitch whine from engine when started. seems to drive okay until I stop at stop light then two or three seconds later a clunk and a slight push forward.

Sounds like your torque converter or front pump in the transmission is going out. See if any transmission codes are present and see if you have air bubbles in your transmission fluid.

My minivan is making a clunking sound at the rear. I've had unqualified people tell me that it's likely my axle or that the tire is loose. When I turn the wheel I hear strange clunking sounds at the rear of the vehicle and sometimes FEEL the clunk in the floor. My wife liked to drive the passenger rear tire off of curbs. I finally discovered that the clunking noise was coming from a bend lower shock -absorber mounting bolt. Only available from the dealer about$8
