Electrical problem
2005 Dodge Caravan 95000 miles

I was told my 2005 Dodge Caravan had battery acid leak on the wiring harness and the entire harness needs replaced. The estimate was given at $2300. I took a quick look at a parts site and it seemed to say a wiring harness is <$1000. Is this value accurate and if so is $1300 for markup and labor reasonable on this type of job?

Also, is this a common occurence. We've had to change the battery every 1.5 years / 35000 miles in this vehicle. The current battery is now 1.5 years/30000 miles old, but does not show an obvious current leakage.

It isn't common, but it happens. I would recommend having the alt output checked. It could be overcharging the battery.

As far as the price, it's in line. Not a cheap problem to repair.
