I WAS TOLD BY A SHOP THAT MY BRAKES WERE OK. I STILL GET A HUMMING OR GROWLING NOISE JUST AS I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IT DOES NOT DO IT ALL THE TIME. SOME DAYS WORSE THAN OTHERS.

Sometimes the type of brake pads you have will make noise. Ceramic brakes will make noise because they are really hard. There are some other brakes that are made of a compound including cermaic and metalic components. They too will make noise.
