My vehicle makes loud noises only when the fan is cut on. I have been told by a repair shop that they I need the ac compressor replaced and all of the work will cost $1100. I am wondering if it could possibly be only the ac compressor clutch that needs replacing and not the entire compressor. Something seems odd about a 1100 repair for just loud noises when the fan is cut on?

Does it only happen when the ac or defroster is turned on? Also, can you tell where the noise is coming from?

Let me know.

no the noise/rattling starts only when the fan is cut on from the inside controls, with the ac or defrost still not cut on yet.

Is it coming from the blower motor itself?
