Brakes problem
2004 Dodge Caravan Engine Size unknown Two Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles

When driving at times the brakes seem to be constantly on as the rotors heat up and smoke when the car stops. This condition is not constant as I took the car in to a dealership twice and they found nothing wrong with the brake system.

Two weeks ago the car was not used for 1 week and left in the garage. When I tried to back the car out of the garage, the back wheels were locked and would not turn. After being out in the sun a few hours the wheels unlocked and the car ran fine.

Yesterday, the car was being driven on the highway and the car started to shimmy. The condition worsened and it seemed the front brakes were being constantly applied. When I stopped, the front rotors were glowing red hot.

After stopping and letting the rotors cool down a bit the brakes were locked up. After 1 and 1/2 hours the brakes were fine.

When I drove back to retreive the car 2 days later, the brakes were locked up again.

What is the cause of the brake problems and what should I do?

HArd to say what is happening. Are the rears hot at all?

They have an air flow problem that prevents them frm cooling properly, but that usually results in pre-mature wear.

The abs unit or mastercylinder may be a problem.

I would also look at the push rod clearance to the master cylinder for over adustment.
