I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport that has recently developed a rattling problem. It's constant from the start up and present when the car is sitting in park through driving. I took the car to a mechanic, he checked it out trying to rule out different things. He removed the belt and ran the engine, in which the noise was not present. He replaced a tensioner and the noise stayed remained after putting the belt on. No signs of leaks anywhere of oil or coolant. He could not pinpoint the exact location, but suggested it may be a bad bearing in the AC pump, water pump, or power steering pump. He said he would lean more on the water pump before the power steering pump, but the noise seems closer to the top rather than the bottom of the engine. Are there any tips or tricks to try and isolate the noise to an individual area or accessory to save from removing each one and replacing?
