2003 Dodge Caravan Automatic

A few months ago, my rear lights started staying on after the van was cut off. It started out where they were only staying on for a couple of minutes. Now I have been told that sometimes they stay on for twenty minutes and sometimes they stay on for hours after I leave the vehicle.
Today they apparently stayed on for quite some time because when I got off work, the battery was totally dead. I got a jump and drove it home, but again the lights are staying on. We cannot find anything in the owner's manual about this problem. Please help!
