Air Conditioning problem
2003 Dodge Caravan Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My air conditioner control knob does not switch between settings. Sometimes it will stay stuck on defrost and you cannot switch to front panel or any other settings. Also I have hot air coming out on the rear passenger air, I believe this is associated with the control knob. If appears to work if I happen to drive over a rough road, almost like something is jared loose. The air conditioner is blowing cold air so I dont think it is at fault. Any help will be appreciated.
thanks in advance

Rick:
Is the problem that the direction of the heat is stuck or is it the actual switch itself?

All you could get was heat from defrost even with the heater of. All the power on lights come on, ac power etc, at first I had fan on high with ac on and all I got was hot air from defrost, no air on front panel as I tried to get it to switch to front panel. I lowered the fan and it then turned cold but still it was only coming from defrost. I closed shut the drawer that holds change kind of hard and I then got cold air from front panel, I turned up the fan and it worked on high but I still have hot air on rear passenger air condition.

Hi:
If I recall, the vents doors and the blender door is run by vacuum. Check for leaks under the dash and between the engine supply and the control. Also, see if you can hear any leaks at the control itself. If there are no leaks, it may be a bad control unit.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
