2003 Dodge Caravan Automatic

When I first start the car the rpm goes up but never goes back down to zero. While driving if I don’t accelerate fast enough then the car dies. I took the car in but the guys told me that they couldn’t find what was wrong with it because the cars computer is not connected so they can’t get a diagnosis. Please help.
