ok so i have now had to replace four alternators in the last year. i am thinking that i cannot have been so fortunate as to receive four alternators that had faults, so i am wondering if you had any ideas about what in the system could be wrong to cause this. i thought of the ground (batt and engine grounds), and the computer. the belt is new and the tensioner is new.

not sure what is going on here. i am an aircraft mechanic and we don't have onboard computers like this so was wondering about what impact that could have. also i read something on wikianswers about fuseable links in the alternator going bad. what would cause this?

Perhaps you can give us more description to the problem as to why you have to keep replacing the alternator. Is it not charging at all, not charging properly, battery light on the dash stays on, etc...

Have you bench-tested the alternator out of the vehicle? What made you think that it is the ground or PCM?
