Electrical problem
2001 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Car had to be jumped after just driving and turned off. It started right away when jumped, but after driving for about 20 minutes the dash lights and gauges went crazy. The dash lights were flashing and the tach and speedometer were going back and forth. The same for the fuel and temp gauges. It still ran fine. Then when my wife got home she put it in park. Before I could get to the car it stalled. When we jumped it again it started right up, but the tach and the speedometer needles were sitting on the wrong side of the gauges and when I revved the engine they moved in the correct direction, but were stopped by the needle stops. At first the charging light was not on, but when I was revving the engine it came on and is staying on. I'm assuming is not just a simple "need a new battery problem". Any idea what is wrong?
