No its not the oxygen sensor-its the EGR its purpose is to reduce the formation of oxides of nitrogen NOX. If it's cracked open it will dilute the air/fuel mixture causing the engine to idle erractically. If its stuck closed it will cause detonation/pinging/spark knock.
