Electrical problem
2000 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a new battery which is properly connected. When I turn the key, the radio will go out as do the dash lights. There is no clicking and no starter engagement. What should I check next?

Did it work before the battery was replaced or did it start before that?

If you hold the key in a certain spot do the guages come on? Are you getting power off of the ignition switch with vehicle on, do lights or anythign worK

The van wouldn't start so I replaced the battery. Everything works when I turn the switch on and there is no particular place that I have to hold the key to get everything to work. All the gauges and lights come on when I turn the key to the start position. The radio works when I get to the intermediate position with the key so I think the switch is okay.

The van did stall a couple of times at traffic lights on my way home the night before which it had not done previously. The van wouldn't start the next morning.

Everything comes on (radio, lights, gauges) when the key is turned to the intermediate position. When the key is turned to the start position, the odometer, and gear shift position lights stay on but the radio goes off and the brake light comes on. The parking brake is not engaged.

Sounds to me like a issue with the neutral safety switch, I woudl check the harness and the sensor before going anyfuther.

Were not talking brake lights outside, were talking on the insturment cluster right?

It is the brake light on the intrument cluster that comes on and not the rear lights.
