Engine Performance problem
2000 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan with about 90,000 miles.

Was driving on H-1 in Honolulu, HI, when the engine suddenly stopped completely. Dash lights flashed, but then returned to normal. Turned key; nothing; no click no starter. After few minutes, turned key, starter turned over but engine did not start. Called tow truck, which hooked up van and drove to service center about four miles away. After the van was unhooked, I tried the engine again, and it started right away, and I drove it home about five miles with no further incident.

What advice do you have re the potential problem(s)? Gas line; electrical system; computer?

Thanks.

The engine light did not come on. Dash lights flickered; then returned to normal. Had just inserted Ipod cassette into radio/cassette.

Thanks.

It sounds electrical. Based on your description, it sounds like there could be a corroded wire or loose connection to the computer. When the lights flickered, did they come back on and the car still wouldn't start? IF so, check the large wiring harness to the PCM under the hood. Something tells me it is either loose or has corrosion building up. Wiggle it around and make sure it is tight.

Let me know what you find. Also, wow do I envy you. It must be beautiful there in Honolulu. In 40 minutes, I get to take my kids outside through snow and rain to set off fireworks for new year's day. What fun. Do you want to trade locations? (LOL) I'm really getting sick of plowing the driveway.

Take care, thanks for using 2carpros. Com, and Happy New Year!
