For about 2 weeks our car would turn over off and on. Yesterday and it quit completely. It never made the ticking noise that a starter would make. When you turn it over it makes one click at the start and you can here it but no constant click. The odometer goes to lines and zeros. We made sure the cables were clean and hooked to the battery, which we knew was probably not the problem and looked around under the hood for wires that may be loose or disconnected. We checked the fuse box under the hood and none of the fuses looked "fried". We are both unemployed and this is not an expense we can afford. Can you please help?

The info I looked at was dodge caravan 3.0. I'd start by checking the circuits at the starter relay, underhood power distribution center. Terminal 30 is hot all the time. Terminal 86 goes hot with the key in the crank position. The coil side of relay is that squiggle line in the diagram, the ground for coil side of relay is controlled by the pcm, if no ground you get nothing. Any testing make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set.
