When I start my 2000 Dodge GRAND Caravan, nothing on the instrument cluster works. No gauges or digital mileage readout as well as gear indicator. When shifted to gear, all gauges come on and work properly. The gear indicators come on as well but all positions have the square highlighted around them and the vehicle will not shift out of first gear, no matter what gear I start out in. I also have a constant engine light. This happened all of a sudden as I exited the interstate at a slow speed. Thank you for your time.

I have a funny feeling your vehicle speed sensor is bad, but you wont know untill you scan it. being that there is so many possibilites, the best thing to do is scan it. instead of just throwing assumptions at it. have it scanned and bring the codes back to me for further diagnosis. lets hope its just the vehicle speed sensor and not anything major.
