Air Conditioning problem

I have had 5 compressors put on and they would only last a few days. The last one lasted almost a year before locking up. I had one installed today and it lasted only 20 mins. The mechanic thinks there is a problem with the cooling fans coming on, they will not come on until it reaches 250. He believes that by the fans not coming on soon enough it is causing the compressor to go out. The relay for the cooling fans was just replaced a few months ago. Do you have any ideas as to what may be causing my problem?
