1999 Dodge Caravan Transmission doesn't shift properly and

Transmission problem
1999 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive 170000 miles

My transmission won't seem to shift beyond 2nd (or maybe it's 3rd gear). Also my speedo went out at about the same time and the service engine soon light is on. What's the problem and how do I fix this?

Trans wont shift correctly without knowing how fast the van is going (Speedo). Need to scan the PCM to see what code is in it, most likely VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor), but need to scan to be sure. Fixing the speedo problem will most likely cure the shifting issues. Have it scanned and get back with the code/codes

I figured the two were related and I will check the PCM. But just how hard is it to install the VSS myself? I don't know where it's located.

They are easy to install. It is located on the trans where the axle for the passenger side plugs into the trans
