1999 Dodge Caravan sounds like something is dragging

from the rear passenger tire area it sounds like something is dragging but nothing is hanging down and it goes away when i step on the brakes. What could cause this noise?

Remove the wheel and drum and check for broken springs rubbing the drum or worn brake shoes.
