The oil pump lite is on. The valves are pinging. I'm getting ready to change the oil pump is there something else that could be causing my problem?
The oil had just been change when lite first started coming on and then going off the oil looked ok now the oil is black.

Hi there,

I would first have the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge, this will give the true pressure readings, if low it could be a pump or a pressure relief valve.

Thanks for help. It turns out the oil pan was full of oil slug. Cleaned the pan and the oil pump screen and tube. The car is back to normal.
