1999 Dodge Caravan Automatic 181000 miles

hey ive got a 1999 dodge caravan that I just bought, took for a test drive and all seemed well until I payed in full then the trouble started. The cruise control doesnt work or the horn and the airbag light stays on ive read it was a defect and was recalled but as I didnt buy new what can I do? Also while slowing down to stop or slowly turning corners the car dies almost like its out of fuel I put it in nuetral and it starts straight away but gets really annoying any ideas would be great also could anyboby tell me a good honest machanic around banff canmore thanks

Yes, you have a bad clockspring in the steering column. There was a recall on most of them. All you can do is bring your VIN# to the local dealer and they can check it and see if you are eligible. Being the 2nd owner shouldn't disqualify you. Recalls are different from warranty work.

Call Chrysler Corp. Service. If the clock was never replaced before 70,000 miles, you will have to buy it. If it WAS replaced before 70,000 miles, then the VEHICLE has a lifetime warranty on the clockspring. Chrysler will tell you if it was ever replaced before and where. According to NTSB, it does not matter if you are the second or tenth owner.
