As of now, my 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan is running okay. However, I know that cars with high mileage, (mine has 135,000 miles), can have the timing belt die, and the repair is extremely expensive. It's also kind of stressful never knowing if or when it'll happen.

I have two questions:
1. Does this car have a history of the timing belt dieing at about this mileage?
2. Can it be checked now, before it happens, and would that be cheaper than waiting for it to happen?

Thanks,
Richard

Hi there,

Your car has a timing belt and it should be replaced every 60,000Mls. There is no mention of engine damage if the belt brakes, but if it dose it will strand you, there are no tell tale signs that a belt will break, so I would get yours done if you have not had it replaced with in the specified time.
