If your fuel sending unit is bad on the fuel pump, or the gauge in the cluster has a bad connection, this happens, I don't understand the other hand.

Your tachometer is pegged all the way to the right and does not move. And the fuel gauge does not operate. The PRNDL lamps is what I am concerned with. There were so many problems with these newer ignition switches which feed the bosdy, transmission and powertrain modules that it may be a bad switch, yet the cluster it self is on the bus wires and are controlled by three seperate modules. Fuel gauge operates by the sending unit sending a signal to the body module, it operates the guage, tachometer originates at the two sensors but the signal is heard by the powertrain module from the TCM,. I would try to operate the faulty item. Jiggle the key to see if it changes anything. Then take the lens and cluster out or try hitting it to see if it changes anything. All this takes time. A technician can use a DRBIII to read faults in any of the computers and test each of the problems you have. Without the scanner you'll have to try the first things I spoke of with the key and cluster. Other then that you'll need a scanner to be sure. We don't have many problems with the fuel gauge. The body computer is usually good if it has not failed by now. You may have a bad ignition switch or cluster circuit board, try to duplicate the problem. See what happens and let me know, ok dink05
